A Comparison on Xiaomi laptop-Air and Macbook！
After a long time waiting, Xiaomi laptop has finally officially launched. Gladly there are two models- 12.5 inch (low level) and 13.3 inch (advanced level) as options for consumers. And in my opinion, I think the prices are rather competitive as well. Honestly, I have already bought the 12.5 inch version with 17000 NTD.
Xiaomi Air (12.5-inch) specs：
- 12.5″ FullHD display
- Intel Core M3-6Y30
- 4GB Ram , 128GB SSD
- USB Type C * 1 / USB 3.0 * 1
- Wif 802.11AC /b/g/n、BT 4.1 wireless connect technology
- HD Built-in Webcam
- Battery lasting 11.5 Hours，Supporting Quick charge
- Thickness: 12.9mm、Weight: 1.07kg
Some of my friends may describe it as MacBook due to its silver color, but I would say it is more like MacBook Pro the 12 inch version in some ways.
Despite low-level inside, it is upscale outside
Speaking of the appearance of Xiaomi Air (12.5), At press conference, the officials especially emphasized that they don’t put Xiaomi logo on its body, and thus the body itself looks particularly neat and clean.
The way I see it, the metallic body and shape is both pretty fashionable and lovable. It looks pretty much like a magazine in your hand. Yet I feel it a bit heavier than it really looks. However, it definitely has a dominant appearance in comparison with other laptops on the same level ranking equally.
Both 12.5-inch and 13.3-inch Xiaomi Air are equipped with FullHD IPS dispalys with tempered glass, making them look good on colors and firmness.
The only one Xiaomi logo is under the screen once the laptop is opened, and it can be opened wide up to 135 degrees.
Backlight come out from under keyboard buttons, you can only see English letters that are printed on the keyboard, and the keyboard buttons are a bit soft and light. Generally, they are still better than Mackbook.
The touch screen is made of glass, supporting gesture control.
Common performance and universal function. Still, I would recommend advanced level.
The package includes an USB Type C, a set of USB 3.0, HDMI and a headset.
IO ports are on the sides of the laptop. I love this design badly for it makes the front and the back easy and simple.
The voltage convertor is similar to Apple’s (45w, Type C). I think it is phenomenal, besides 5V2A, it unbelievably also supports 9V2A, QC 2.0. Which means consumers can use it as a voltage convertor for Apple MacBook.
As you can see in the picture, the Type C port is another extremely convenient design.
Here is a look of the bottom.
Enclosing, Xiaomi air 12.5-inch version is absolutely a good laptop and yes, it is worth buying; From prices to convenience, I bet you won’t have any buyer’s remorse. However, I will categorize it (12.5-inch) as a beginner’s laptop, affordable and handy, but it is just ok, or maybe I should say “ordinary” if you don’t ask for a laptop in a perfect way.
The last reminder for whoever is interested in Xiaomi Air. Xiaomi Air is only available in mainland China, using mandarin as language basically. Users can’t upgrade the software version. (Windows 10 English version is not permitted due to copyright possibly).
