A Brief Talk on MR Technology.

2016 is a colorful and enriching year. As a matter of fact, it is also the first year of “VR”, which we have already had discussion over. And it doesn’t take you long to understand “AR” from sensational Pokémon Go. Yet, have you ever heard of MR? Let’s take a quick look at what MR really is.

Mixed Reality, MR as its abbreviation, defined as follows on WIKI, “Sometimes referred to as hybrid reality, is the merging of real and virtual worlds to produce new environments and visualizations where physical and digital objects co-exist and interact in real time. Mixed reality takes place not only in the physical world or the virtual world, but is a mix of reality and virtual reality, encompassing both augmented reality and augmented virtuality. In my personal opinion, though MR is in the middle of VR and AR, I would say MR is more like AR, the difference is the “things” in MR interact with people and things in real life. Therefore, interestingly, MR makes us feel like VR technically, but more like AR interactively.

Some people may have question like,” AR does interaction with people, doesn’t it?” Yes, there is no denying the interaction between AR and its users, but users have to activate some specific devices so that they can actually do interaction with specific things. Take “Pokémon Go” as an instance. Only by touching the smartphone screens can users catch monsters while MR reacts and gives responses to users actions and voices by utilizes high tech sensing devices.
